School Vision

3
Berowra Christian Community School exists to offer children a comprehensive education that will train them in Godly thinking and living in a nurturing environment that encourages them to realise their full potential, develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and live joyful and productive lives for Him.

Background

Berowra Christian Community School is a K-6 Primary School, established by Berowra Baptist Church in 1986 in response to the growing number of Christian parents seeking a day school which supported the beliefs and values taught at home. We aim to provide, in a safe and secure environment, a Christ centred education of the highest quality in order to meet that need.

Utilising the Berowra Baptist Church property and being administered by an elected Board, the school embraces families from any denomination who subscribe to the school’s Statement of Faith. “Community” is a vital part of the school’s name because it reflects the rich Christian fellowship enjoyed by the entire school family. Our school is a founding member of Christian Schools Australia (CSA), an organisation established to provide advice and support to Christian schools nationally. They provide administrative and professional advice as well as regular in-service to staff of affiliated schools so creating a wider family and network of several hundred other schools built on a common foundation.

Chief Aims

  • to develop whole, balanced, secure and confident children who will approach life with enthusiasm and in a Christ-like manner
    6
  • to be an extension of the church and home, to support parents in training their children according to the Word of God – Proverbs 22:6
  • founded on the belief that God is the Creator of all life and the source of all wisdom, therefore the education we offer is Christ-centred and Biblically-based – James 1:5
  • to provide the highest level of education for every student so that each may fulfil their unique God-given potential and be affirmed in the use of their gifts and talents
  • to equip children with learning and living skills that enable them to live in a wider community and prepares them for integration into a secondary school
  • to create an environment of love, acceptance, care, discipline and forgiveness where children are taught to develop relationships based on Biblical principles. We desire to foster respect, integrity an personal responsibility in the life of every child, whilst acknowledging each others uniqueness and preciousness before God
  • to be a family under the loving Fatherhood of God. As this school is an extension of the ministry of parents in the home, parents are actively encouraged to be “hands on” in the life of the school.

School Structure

2
The school is governed by a Board drawn from church and school representatives elected annually. A Parents and Friends group provides active input into school life and management.

The teaching staff come from a wide variety of church backgrounds and professional experience. All staff have a sense of God’s calling over their life and a willingness to share their gifts and love of children in the Christian school setting.

Registration with the Board of Studies is maintained through the normal process of documentation and regular inspection. The school attracts subsidies from both State and Federal Governments and charges an annual fee covering all day to day expenses. Excursions and textbook costs are paid separately. Family rebates are available on application, as are further discounts in cases of hardship.
